Prayer of Intercession - After Communion
Prayer of Intercession
Loving God, we thank you that you have once again fed us at your Table. In the wilderness, you provided for your people manna from heaven—bread that sustained them on their journey. You gave them water from the rock, a gift they did not earn but received by your mercy.
We, too, experience wilderness places in our lives—times of weariness, uncertainty, and longing. And just as you sustained your people then, we trust in your provision now
For those in the wilderness of physical pain, bring healing, strength, and rest. Be near to those whose bodies are weary, whose treatments are harsh, whose sleep is broken, whose diagnoses are frightening. Wrap them in your mercy and remind them they are not alone.
For those in the wilderness of grief, hold them in your arms. Let your comfort be steady and your presence sure, even when the way ahead seems shadowed.
For those in the wilderness of isolation, bring connection and care. Be present with those who feel forgotten, overlooked, or misunderstood. Send companions for the journey, and grant them the courage to reach out and be received.
For those in the wilderness of addiction, bring them to you, the source of strength and power, the one who makes transformation possible. Send them inspiration, fortitude, and support.
For those in the wilderness of doubt, offer clarity and peace. Be with those who feel far from you, or from themselves. Remind them that faith is not the absence of questions but the trust that you are still with us in the asking.
For those in the wilderness of decision, grant wisdom and guidance. For those facing uncertain paths or difficult choices, may your Spirit illuminate the next right step. Where the future feels heavy, bring lightness and hope.
And for those who are thriving, who feel your nearness, who are joyful and full of purpose—thank you. May they be generous with what they have received and aware of how they can walk alongside others
Lord, meet each of us in our wildernesses. Provide what we need—daily bread, living water, and the presence of your Spirit. Lead us on, O God, until the day we see your promises fulfilled and know your peace fully.
In the name of Jesus, our manna and our mercy,
Amen.
