Prayer for the Day: Come, Holy Spirit (Pentecost)
Introduction
Pentecost is the celebration of promise fulfilled—the Spirit of God poured out upon all people. What began as a rushing wind in Jerusalem still stirs hearts today. The same Spirit who empowered the disciples now fills the church with courage, wisdom, and love.
Pentecost reminds us that God’s presence is not confined to one place or one time. The Holy Spirit moves through the world, renewing what is broken and igniting faith where it has grown dim.
This prayer is for those who long to be renewed by the Spirit, to live with holy boldness, and to carry the fire of God’s love into the world.
Scripture
“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.”
— Acts 2:4 (NRSV)
Reflection
The story of Pentecost is not only about what happened—it is about what continues to happen. The Spirit breathes life into weary hearts, unity into divided communities, and power into ordinary people. The disciples who once hid in fear became witnesses of joy because the Spirit filled them.
The Holy Spirit is God’s presence within us, guiding, comforting, and sending us into the world with purpose. To pray “Come, Holy Spirit” is to invite transformation—to open our hearts to what only God can do.
Wherever you find yourself today, the Spirit is already near, ready to kindle faith and renew your strength.
