Prayer for the Day: Staying Close to God

This prayer is for those days when faith feels scattered, when your heart needs to be gathered back into the quiet presence of the One who loves you most. It’s a reminder that nearness to God isn’t earned—it’s received.

Reflection
James’ invitation is simple but profound: draw near to God, and God will draw near to you. It isn’t a threat or a test; it’s a promise. When we slow down and turn our hearts toward God—in prayer, in gratitude, or even in silence—we discover that God has been waiting for us all along.
Staying close to God isn’t about living above the noise of life but learning to bring God into it. It’s choosing to talk to God in traffic, to thank God at the kitchen sink, to listen for the Spirit in the middle of a meeting. God doesn’t just meet us in quiet sanctuaries but in the hum of ordinary moments. When we practice this kind of closeness, our hearts begin to rest again.
