Prayer for the Day: Trust Through Change – Isaiah 43:19
Introduction
Change rarely feels comfortable, but it often carries the fingerprints of God. Isaiah’s words remind us, “I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” The same God who parted seas and made rivers in the desert still moves in the shifting seasons of our lives. Prayer during times of change invites us to trade fear for faith and to remember that even when everything feels uncertain, God remains steady.
This prayer is for anyone facing transition—new beginnings, unexpected turns, or seasons of waiting. Change can unsettle us, but it can also open us to grace.
Scripture
“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
— Isaiah 43:19 (NRSV)
Reflection
Change is one of the ways God teaches us to trust again. It reminds us that we are not the ones holding the world together. Isaiah’s prophecy was spoken to a people in exile, people who wondered if God had forgotten them. Instead, God promised something new—life in barren places, hope where none seemed possible.
Afternoon prayer in seasons of change gives us space to pause and breathe. It centers us in the truth that God is still leading us forward, even when we don’t see the full path. Trust is not pretending we’re unafraid; it’s choosing to move ahead with God’s hand in ours.
If change feels heavy today, hold onto this: the same God who led you here will not leave you here.
