Prayer of Intercession in Worship Service

Holy God,

Before we drew our first breath, you knew us. You shaped us, called us, and set us apart for your purposes. Even when we feel unsteady—small, uncertain, or overwhelmed—you remain sure and steadfast.

We confess that our lives are easily shaken. We stumble under burdens, we hesitate in fear, and we speak words that falter. Yet your voice breaks through our excuses. Your Spirit strengthens what is weak. Your love steadies us when everything else trembles.

So today, Lord, we entrust our fragile selves to you. For those carrying hidden grief, hold them close. For those navigating change and uncertainty, remind them of your constant care. For those who feel unworthy or ill-equipped, whisper again the promise: “I am with you.”

Build in us a faith that cannot be toppled, not because we are strong, but because you are unshakable. Let your fire purify our hearts, your word guide our steps, and your kingdom take root in our midst.

We pray for those we served at the Lunch Box and for those we will see and serve with Hope on a Mission in the city of Poughkeepsie this weekend, protect and provide for them God. Connect them with services and servants who will help them flourish.

We lift up the ministry of Odyssey and ask that you provide for them.

For our students, God, as we think about the school year starting. We give thanks for the fun of summer – for trips and time spent with friends and family. What a joy, what a gift. Be with our junior high as they meet and build friendship as well.

And as we go from this place, may our words and deeds point to your eternal reign—a kingdom that cannot be moved, and a God who never lets us go.

In the name of Jesus Christ, the solid rock of our faith, we pray.

Amen.
