Night Prayer for Advent

Advent is a season of waiting, longing, and hope. Each evening during Advent invites us to pause, slow down, and remember that Christ has come, Christ is with us, and Christ will come again. Night prayer for Advent helps us rest in the promises of God while holding both our waiting and our hope before him.

This prayer draws us into the spirit of the season—anticipation, trust, and preparation. As the nights grow longer, we remember that the true Light has already entered the world, and his presence gives us peace.

Scripture for the Evening

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness—on them light has shined.” — Isaiah 9:2, NRSV

Reflection

Advent nights remind us that we live between promises fulfilled and promises still awaited. Christ has come, and yet we still long for his kingdom to be fully revealed. Night prayer during Advent becomes a way to bring our longing, our waiting, and our hope into God’s presence.

When we pray in Advent, we are not only remembering the past but also leaning into the future. We rest in the assurance that God’s light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.
