Morning Prayer for Holy Week – Philippians 2:5–8
Introduction
Holy Week begins with both anticipation and awe. It is the week when the story of our faith moves from hosannas to heartbreak, from the triumphal entry to the cross. Paul’s words in Philippians call us to enter these days with the same heart as Christ: “Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus… he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross.” Morning prayer during Holy Week invites us to walk in humility, gratitude, and love that remembers the cost of grace.
This prayer is for all who seek to draw near to Christ in these sacred days—for those carrying sorrow, seeking forgiveness, or simply longing to stay close to Jesus as He walks toward Calvary.
Scripture
“Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross.”
— Philippians 2:5–8 (NRSV)
Reflection
Holy Week is a journey of love. It’s a time when we remember that God’s power is revealed through humility and His victory through surrender. Each morning this week offers a chance to realign our hearts with Christ’s. We remember that discipleship is not about control or certainty but about trust—the kind that follows Jesus even when the path grows dark.
Morning prayer helps us begin each day of this holy week with intention. We enter not as spectators of a story long past, but as participants in grace that continues to unfold. Christ’s humility becomes our model, His cross our reminder that love is stronger than death.
Let this morning’s prayer be your beginning place. Breathe deeply, and remember the One who gave everything for love.
