Morning Prayer for Monday – Lamentations 3:22–23

ntroduction

Monday mornings arrive with mixed feelings. For some, it feels like a fresh start; for others, it brings a return to routine and responsibility. Lamentations reminds us of something steady and true: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” Every sunrise carries the chance to begin again in grace.

This prayer is for those easing back into schedules, work, or daily obligations. Before the noise of the day begins, take a moment to rest in God’s mercy that meets you right where you are.

Scripture

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23 (NRSV)

Reflection

The writer of Lamentations speaks from exhaustion but still finds hope in God’s faithfulness. That same hope meets us on Monday mornings when we feel unready for what lies ahead. God’s mercies aren’t recycled or leftover. They are fresh, created for this day and this moment.

Praying on a Monday morning is an act of trust. It says, “I don’t have to carry the whole week at once.” God’s grace is enough for what’s in front of you today. His love doesn’t fade when your energy does.

If the week already feels heavy, breathe deeply. God’s compassion is already waiting for you in this new day.
