Morning Prayer for Today

Introduction

Each day begins with a choice—to rush or to rest, to worry or to trust. Morning prayer invites us to pause before the day carries us away. We don’t need to have it all figured out; we just need to begin with God. The goal isn’t perfection, but presence.

This prayer is a simple reminder that today is enough. You don’t have to reach for tomorrow or regret yesterday. God meets you right here, in this moment, with mercy that is new every morning. Take a breath. Offer it to God. That’s where prayer begins.

Scripture

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23 (NRSV)

Reflection

Every morning, God starts over with us. Yesterday’s mistakes do not define us; today’s mercies renew us. The prophet who wrote these words wasn’t living an easy life—he was surrounded by loss and uncertainty—and yet he found hope in God’s faithfulness. If he could say great is your faithfulness from the ruins, so can we.

Morning prayer doesn’t require many words. It just needs a willing heart. When we pray, we step into alignment with grace, remembering that whatever this day holds, God holds us. Each sunrise is both a promise and a prayer: God is not done with us yet.
