Prayer for the Day: A Simple Prayer
Introduction
Prayer doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes, the most meaningful moments with God come when we strip everything else away—the long lists, the perfect phrasing, even the need to sound spiritual—and simply speak from the heart. God is not far off waiting for us to perform; God is near, listening to every sigh and silence that words can’t reach.
This prayer is an invitation to rest in simplicity. To sit quietly, breathe deeply, and remember that God’s love is constant whether our prayers are spoken or unspoken. Sometimes the holiest thing you can say is, “Lord, I’m here.”
Scripture
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10 (NRSV)
Reflection
Stillness is hard in a noisy world. We fill our days with movement, tasks, and conversation, often forgetting that prayer isn’t just talking to God—it’s being with God. In stillness, we remember who we are and whose we are. We rediscover the quiet center that busyness tends to bury.
A simple prayer might not feel productive, but that’s part of the beauty. It draws us away from striving and back to trust. It reminds us that we don’t need to impress God—just to be open to God’s presence.
Try whispering this prayer sometime today. Or pray it without words at all. Either way, God hears.
