Morning Prayer for Today - Mark 1:35

Introduction

Each sunrise brings a quiet reminder: we are still here, still loved, still held by grace. The morning is God’s invitation to begin again—not by fixing everything, but by remembering that God is already in it with us. Before the day takes shape, take a moment to breathe and simply be present with the One who makes all things new.

This prayer is for those who wake with hope and for those who wake with heaviness. Either way, the same truth holds: God’s mercy is new today. You don’t have to be ready for everything—just open to what God will do.

Scripture

“In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.”
— Mark 1:35 (NRSV)

Reflection

Even Jesus needed quiet. In the early hours, before the crowds and questions, he sought stillness with the Father. That rhythm of retreat wasn’t escape—it was renewal. Prayer grounded him in who he was and what he was sent to do.

We live in a noisy world that celebrates doing more and resting less. But if the Son of God made time to pray before the day began, how much more do we need that same pause? Morning prayer reminds us that our worth doesn’t come from what we accomplish but from who we belong to.

If this morning feels hurried or heavy, let Jesus’ example lead you back to calm. Find your own deserted place—even if it’s just a few quiet minutes—and begin again there.
