Morning Prayer for Today – Lamentations 3:22–23
Introduction
Every morning is a small miracle—a new beginning we didn’t earn but are invited into. God’s mercies arrive quietly, steady as sunrise, faithful as breath. Today doesn’t have to be extraordinary to be sacred. It becomes holy when we pause long enough to see it as a gift.
This prayer is for the ordinary day—the one filled with routines, responsibilities, and the chance to love well in simple ways. When we begin with prayer, we start from the right place: gratitude and trust.
Scripture
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23 (NRSV)
Reflection
The writer of Lamentations spoke these words from a place of sorrow, yet his heart still found hope. God’s mercies, he said, are new every morning. Even when yesterday held disappointment or loss, grace meets us again today. That’s the rhythm of faith—renewal after weariness, light after shadow.
Morning prayer reminds us to begin not with worry, but with wonder. God’s faithfulness didn’t end with the night; it’s waiting for us in this very moment. Today might not unfold exactly as we expect, but His love remains unchanging.
So before you check your phone or make your plans, take a breath and remember: you are standing in the gift of a brand-new mercy.
