Prayer for the Day: Christ Exalted (Ascension)

Introduction

The Ascension of Christ marks not an ending but a continuation—the risen Lord lifted up to reign in glory, yet still near to His people through the Spirit. It reminds us that the story of salvation is complete and ongoing at once. Christ’s exaltation is both victory and promise: He reigns above all things, and we are never beyond His reach.

Ascension calls us to lift our hearts toward heaven while keeping our feet faithful on earth. The same Christ who ascended in power now empowers His followers to be His witnesses in the world.

This prayer is for those who look to Christ in hope, trusting that the One enthroned in heaven still holds every moment of our lives in His hands.

Scripture

“While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.”
— Luke 24:51–52 (NRSV)

Reflection

The disciples’ response to the Ascension is striking—they worshiped and rejoiced. Though Jesus was no longer physically with them, they understood that His presence was not lost, only transformed. The Ascension is the assurance that Christ’s authority is complete and His promise secure.

He who humbled Himself to the cross now reigns in glory, interceding for us. And because He reigns, our lives are anchored in hope that cannot be shaken. His victory becomes our confidence; His exaltation becomes our calling to bear witness to His kingdom.

Today, we remember that the Christ who ascended in power also remains with us in love.
