Morning Prayer for Epiphany – Matthew 2:10–11
Introduction
Epiphany morning glows with quiet wonder. The season reminds us of the Magi who followed the star and found their way to Christ. “When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage.” Morning prayer on Epiphany is an invitation to seek, to kneel, and to offer our hearts once again to the Light of the world.
This prayer is for those beginning a new season of faith, for those searching for clarity, and for those who long to see Christ more clearly. The same light that guided the Magi still shines for us today.
Scripture
“When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”
— Matthew 2:10–11 (NRSV)
Reflection
Epiphany means “appearing” or “revealing.” It is the day we remember that God’s light reached beyond Bethlehem, shining for all nations. The Magi followed the light, not knowing exactly where it would lead, and discovered the presence of God in an unexpected place. In the same way, God still leads us—not by certainty, but by faith.
Morning prayer on Epiphany helps us notice the ways God’s light is already present in our lives. The gift we bring is not gold or myrrh, but gratitude, humility, and trust. Every time we follow the light of love, we honor Christ anew.
As you pray this morning, ask God to make you attentive to the light that leads and the joy that follows.
