Christian Wedding Blessing

Introduction

A Christian wedding often concludes with a blessing spoken over the couple, a reminder that their marriage begins not only with promises but with the grace of God surrounding them. This blessing sends them into their life together with words that point to hope, faithfulness, and the steadfast love that will sustain them in every season. Whether offered in a sanctuary, outdoors, or in a small gathering with family and friends, these blessings speak peace and strength into the new covenant the couple has formed.

The following options provide language that is prayerful and rooted in Scripture, giving officiants several ways to bless the couple as they begin their married life in the presence of God.

Blessing Option One

May the God who created you in love, redeemed you in Christ, and sustains you by the Spirit keep you in perfect peace. As you leave this place, may your home be a shelter of kindness, your table a place of welcome, and your life together a witness to the grace you have received.

May hope rise in you when days are difficult, and may joy deepen in you when blessings abound. Let forgiveness shape your conversations and gentleness guide your steps. And may the peace of Christ dwell in your hearts richly, now and throughout all the years to come. Amen.

Blessing Option Two

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the light of God’s face shine upon your marriage with warmth and mercy. May your love grow in patience, deepen in wisdom, and flourish in service to one another and the world around you.

As you walk together into the future God is preparing, may you find strength in shared prayer, courage in shared burdens, and delight in shared joy. And may the steadfast love of the Lord, which never ceases, surround you and carry you all your days. Amen.

Blessing Option Three

Go forth in the grace of Christ, whose love binds all things together. May God give you the courage to be honest, the humility to listen well, and the compassion that turns ordinary moments into sacred ones.

May your home be filled with laughter, may your work be filled with purpose, and may your life together be filled with the quiet assurance that God is with you. And may the blessing of Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, rest upon you and remain with you today and always. Amen.
